Secret Playgrounds in North Brisbane!

Location: Pelican Park, Hornibrook Esplanade, Clontarf

This brand new park is sure to delight every little pirate with its fun nautical theme. A huge pirate ship takes prime place which includes a massive enclosed slide, multiple climbing frames and binoculars to look for hidden treasure!

Set in a beautiful location right on the water, it is the perfect spot for a lunchtime picnic. There are BBQ area's with tables nearby, and a huge grassy area to kick a ball around. 

Best of all - this is all sand (no red bark - yay!) and partially fenced to keep your little ones contained.

Location: Roghan Road, Fitzgibbon

This bright and colouring playground is great for kids that love to climb and explore. A massive fort dominates the space, with ladders, bridges, ropes and more to conquer. Multiple slides are a fun way to get down - then run up the bridge and start again!

It is sand based, so the perfect opportunity to bring along some buckets and spades to extend play opportunites. 

The large space also makes it a popular place to host birthday parties - with plenty of gazebo's and tables to use. 

This park is not fenced so you do need to watch your kids closely as they run and explore.

Location: Riverbreeze Estate - Griffin

Little Harry Potter lovers (like Brooklyn!) will absolutely adore this Harry Potter-esque park. 

It has two main ‘castle-like’ structures that connect via a bridge, complete with fireman's pole, slides, turrets and windows to peep out of. 

There is also a seperate large climbing frame for kids to explore (some say it resembles Hermione's time turner!).

Giant pumpkins and tomato's are dotted throughout the park too, great to jump on and off!

This fun little park is the perfect place for your kids to act our their magical fantasies.

Location: Osborne and Pullen Roads - Everton Park

Tiralba Park is a great option for all ages and includes both a smaller kids playground and a ninja course for older children. 

It also has a huge grassed area to play sports and a half basketball court. 

A favourite for our kids was the cute Pet Cafe - perfect for some imaginative play. We got served some bark pizza's and stick chippy's 

Right next to that is a fun little vine maze that we explored. 

We also really enjoyed the four person see-saw and the big undercover sandpit.

Lots of pergolas are scattered about the parkland, making it the perfect place for a picnic lunch or birthday celebration. 

For older kids (recommended for 12 and up- although I'm sure younger children will give it their best shot) the Ninja warrior course is great fun to test their agility and coordination.

Location: Dawson Parade, Arana Hills

This park is terraced over four levels and is more suited to kids four and older. 

On the top level you can find a mini basketball court with shooting hoop.

Down on level three you will discover a large sheltered eating area.

On level two you will discover the fun playground complete with swings, a massive climbing frame made of steel and thick rope and spinning contraptions and see-saws. 

The kids favourite part was the huge slide that is set up on the hill - climb the big blocks and slide down over and over again!

On level one you will find the little toddler area with a small play fort. Adjacent to this is a riding track complete with mini round-abouts - perfect for kids to practice riding their bikes and scooters. 

Below this is a huge flying fox that kids of all ages can enjoy.

Location: Ridge Parade & Penda Street, Narangba

This has to be one of my favourite parks for small kids - easy to walk-up ramps with some beginner slides, low play equipment, and toddler swings. I also love the play panels along the ramp which little one's can interact with.

Older kids will also love this playground - the track ride is lots of fun (similar to a flying fox) - it has two handles to grab onto and slide down. 

It also has a rope bridge which leads to a taller climbing frame and slides - this is perfect as it prevents babies and toddlers from accessing the areas that could be dangerous for them. 

Another feature that we love is the ‘You and me’. swing. This cool swing is made specifically for an adult and toddler to ride together - you face each other while swinging back and forth. If you have never seen this type of swing you should check it out!
